Safe, fast and effective – and extremely popular – jaw muscle relaxing injections can quickly decrease pain in the jaw and teeth grinding. It is often much quicker, more comfortable and more effective than alternative mouth splints. This condition is also called bruxism.

How does it work?

A natural, purified protein is injected with a very fine needle into specific areas of the jaw muscles. The muscle. It causes the jaw muscles to relax. The jaw muscles are called the masseters.

What are the results?

It takes up to 1 to 2 weeks to begin to see the results of the treatment. The effects of the treatment last for about 4 - 6 months. Over several treatments some of our patients find they need injections less often up to 8 months.

 

Does it hurt?

Most people find the treatment to be reasonably comfortable, and an anaesthetic is not required.

Are there any side effects?

In the vast majority of cases there are no side effects and there is no downtime involved. Occasionally, temporary effects such as weakness of chewing may be noticed but this is usually not significant. There are possible uncommon effects such bruising or small infections at the injection points.
